An excellent sipping rum, with deep flavors of prune, port wine, and clove. Every drop of this liquid has seen at least 10 years in barrel.

This great Bajan rum from Plantation has spent in 6 months in contact with amburana wood, a tropical hardwood which imparts a cinnamon-toast spice to the spirits it touches. Caraway, coconut, and a little chocolate round out the picture.

The nose is fruitcake covered in fresh varnish, the taste is sticky toffee pudding in a pile of tropical flowers.

This is the king of Demerara rums, made at the only distillery in Guyana, and aged in ex-bourbon casks. Barrel notes dominate, with a dark molasses backbone and notes of banana, raisins, and dark chocolate.

El Dorado "Port Mourant" is made on one of the oldest working wooden pot still in the Western hemisphere, built in 1732. What it lacks in brown-sugar sweetness it more than makes up for it with structured tannins, bracing lime peel, wintergreen, and hints of cantaloupe and spice.

Barbados-forward blend with some Jamaican, Guyanese, and Martinique rums, finished in a Pedro Ximenez sherry barrel, resulting in notes of dark chocolate, licorice root, and dark berry compote. Bottled at 64.47% alcohol, so it wants a splash of water to really open up.

From St. Lucia Distillers, a blend of pot and column still rums, with a little local agricole-style rum to keep things fresh. Lots of earthy tobacco flavor, with dry clove and cinnamon tannins and a touch of fresh sweet cane at the finish.

Founded in 1670, Worthy Park is the last remaining Single Estate rum distillery in Jamaica, and one of the last two 100% Jamaican-owned rum producers still in operation. At 45% ABV, this one draws you to the glass with flavors of green peppercorn, ripe mango, toffee, and much, much more.

Made from fresh hand-cut sugarcane grown without chemicals and pesticides at one of Haiti's oldest distilleries, and aged in French limousin oak. We find it pretty lively despite its advanced age, with notes of cherry and plum up front, fading to a peppery, smoky finish that reminds us of armagnac.

The characteristic grassiness of rhum agricole is ever present, but so are flavors of ginger, star anise, orange and lime peel. The suavité of cognac with a Carribean swagger.
